Kevin reduced his organisational risk and enabled fast growth

Since working with Nimba, Kevin rarely needs to use an accountant: everything is covered by our team.

Kevin’s non-profit organisation undergoes regular compliance audits. During one audit, the auditor pointed out a significant risk: the single in-house person looking after all of the payroll and finances. For Kevin - who had, in fact, previously had a “bit of a nightmare” when his payroll person ended up in hospital - contracting Nimba made sense. 

We make life easier for Kevin by looking after his accounts, payroll, and financial reporting, including the end of year accounts that need to be prepared for audit. Since working with Nimba, Kevin rarely needs to use an accountant: everything is covered by our team.

Kevin enjoys the flexibility of working with an external contractor, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing there are multiple people available to provide support. 

“It doesn’t matter the time or day,” he says, “I can ring the Nimba team and get hold of them. They’re always very responsive - it’s great.”

From time to time, urgent financial questions come up outside standard business hours, and when that happens we’re happy to help. “When you have a staff member, they don’t like being rung at 7pm!” Kevin says. “I feel like I can ring Nimba at 7 at night, and they’ll sort it.”

While we’ve been working with Kevin, the organisation has grown from 20 to 40 staff, relatively quickly, and we’ve provided the services to support this growth. This removed a common headache for fast-growing organisations; hiring more financial resource at the right time, without overstretching operational budget, or putting too much pressure on a small team.

“We haven’t had to think about growing the financial capacity to do the work,” Kevin says. “We’ve just said to Kim, ‘We’ve got more to do!’ and she has the capacity to do it.”
